Look, Ford Motor Company / Motivate International / Lyft Inc is hiring:
Hey, what’s minimum wage these days – $15/hr? So that means that FordGoBike will start you off at just 7.5% above the absolute minimum.
But I’ll tell you, the Ford ppl boasted of paying “living wages” just last year, right? And they continue to make this claim.
Right?
So how does all this square?
Well it seems that they pulled the $16.13 figure from the Living Wage Calculator at MIT. Here’s how MIT’s webpage for San Francisco looked last year:
I mean, go figure right?
(This whole living wages business assumes that we’re talking about workers without kids and IDK if that’s exactly true in all cases, but anyway, the above was the situation last year, back when San Francisco minimum wage was $14 per hour.)
(IMO, $16.13 is/was NOT a living wage in Frisco, as of 2018, or 2017 (or pretty much anything in the twenty-teens), but bygones, Hank FORD, bygones. This was Last Year’s Issue of course. Moving on…)
Oh, guess what, “living wages” in San Francisco, as reported by the MIT Living Wages ppl, now start at…
…$19.63 per hour.
So, how does this square?
IDK.
Perhaps someone could explain it to me.
